omg I totally didn’t know that Zoom was a real DC character XD

Aaaahahaha. …Now I’m a little sad. Not specifically because of this but because I remember seeing someone I was following complaining about all the fucking [YJ characters]/OCs on AO3 (I’m not quoting because, while I’m pretty sure there was a bit of swearing or at least raaaarghness to the post, I can’t remember the exact words), and then I just kind of sat there realizing there was a good chance they thought my fic (which is generally on the first page because I update regularly) was one of them. I sulked for a bit and but consoled myself over the fact that this story is geared more toward the Flash fandom anyway. Off the top of my head, I think I’ve had three actual OCs appear in the entire story so far, and none of them in more than, like, one or two scenes. 

Anyway, Zoom was one of my favorite comic book villains ever. He’s a totally psychotic nutbag, and when they first fought, Wally was the fastest man alive and couldn’t even see him. He had to absorb all of Jesse Quick’s speed to beat him. He used to be Wally’s friend; a friendship which kind of carried over after he became Zoom, in it’s own demented way. His purpose for being Zoom is to make Wally a better superhero. He feels like he’s helping Wally, improving his resolve and making him up his game, and Wally would stop holding back and reach his full potential if he suffered more.

So he attacked Wally’s wife, Linda Park, and caused her to miscarry their twins (who would later be born anyway, creating Irey and Jai).

The whole arc was

Well, it was pretty heartbreaking.

But aside from the horrific, delicious angst he caused the Flash family, his character actually won me over that time he saved his (ex) wife and kicked the Rogues’ collective asses.

I mean, I really like the Rogues, but… that was pretty badass.

…I’ve gotten really attached to the nutbag, okay?
